Facilities Technician II

Job Summary
Responsible for maintenance of the distribution center building and grounds. Maintains building and equipment to minimize down time and achieve safety goals. Follows appropriate guidelines for these functions.
Essential Functions
Maintains facility infrastructure, equipment and systems to ensure operation and minimize down time;
Follows preventive maintenance program for all equipment;
Makes prompt repair of equipment to limit down time;
Maintains electronic and paper maintenance records;
Organizes and enforces sanitation procedures;
Monitors grounds for proper care and appearance;
Works closely with management on safety and sanitation issues;
Monitors and organizes outside contractors for quality and cost effectiveness;
Available for on call duties.
Professionally address issues with employees utilizing the proper resources.
Establishes, supports, promotes and participates in network, facility and departmental activities designed to strengthen and improve moral, team work and improve the overall work environment.
Identifies and addresses safety hazards and coach personnel in safety initiatives.
Maintains housekeeping standards and ensures that all sanitation requirements are met.
May perform all essential functions listed above for multiple facilities. Travel between facilities on a daily, weekly, monthly basis as needed to maintain facility standards.
Travel to assigned facility with immediate repair needs to minimize downtime
Performs and documents periodic facility inspections
Other Functions
Keeps the distribution center aisles clear and maintains integrity of storage locations;
Maintains the housekeeping and sanitation standards of the distribution center;
Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Working Environment
The distribution center is a warehouse for the storage and distribution of dental, medical and veterinary supplies and equipment. In general, the building's primary work area consists of pallet storage racking, roller storage and small item storage shelving. The facility uses powered conveyor systems for the transportation of products. Pallet jacks and forklifts are used for palletized products. Some positions require use of safety equipment, which is provided as needed.
Job Qualifications
Education/Training & Skills
Post high school mechanical or building trades, or equivalent combination of education and work experience accepted;
Competent computer skills, and experience using computerized maintenance systems is preferred;
Strong organization skills, attention to detail and follow through to resolve any outstanding issues;
Strong time management skills;
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to read, understand and utilize equipment manuals;
Ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task
Ability to effectively communicate with and manage outside contractors and vendors;
Possess internal customer service skills;
Knowledge of current laws and standards applicable to equipment and building maintenance, and facility security;
Ability to evaluate procedures and initiate improvements;
Must have reliable transportation if assigned to multiple facilities
Relevant Work Experience
Three (3) ? Five (5) years of experience in building trades and/or machine repairs, including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc.;
Three (3) ? Five (5) years of experience in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of material handling equipment, conveyor systems, and automated equipment.
